• Laramie County Community College freshman Amanda Sinnott said she first became interested in science when she attended Wyoming Starbase Academy in fifth grade. • Brandon Baggs knew what he wanted to do before he ever went to college. Growing up on a cattle ranch near Bakersfield, California, he built fences and worked with welding and fabrication as part of the normal course of life. It continued in high school with shop classes, and his teachers encouraged him to pursue his interest in building things. Becoming an engineer was what he wanted to do.

• As Bob and Rogene Boyd walked into the Animal Science Lab just outside the Agriculture Building at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Bob broke from the group and went straight to the sheep in pens against the north wall. His discerning eye inspected each animal as he sidestepped in front of the pens, his experience telling him just by a glance how to evaluate them.

• The fourth-graders in Eric Paulson's class at Miller Elementary School opened their workbooks on a Monday afternoon in November as they prepared to read Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening." The students were asked to compare the poem to two others they'd read previously, describing the settings of each, as they looked to make connections between the three works.

• CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Laramie County Community College's efforts to launch a new Advanced Manufacturing program received the final piece of funding with the announcement from U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo, that the College has been approved for an Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant totaling $2.3 million. The grant will be used to purchase equipment for its new Advanced Manufacturing and Materials Center (AMMC). This grant is funded by the American Rescue Plan and EDA's $300 million Coal Communities Commitment.

At Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the freshman success course used to be a series of basic how-to lessons on things like using the library. But when the college decided to move to a guided pathways model, it seized the opportunity for a revolutionary update to the one class that nearly all incoming students take.

• CHEYENNE, WYO. - In conjunction with national Steel Day, Laramie County Community College is partnering with Puma Steel and the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) to host the 3rd annual Steel Day welding competition Sept. 22- 24. High school students from four states will compete in a preliminary competition on the âù´ºÔºÊÓƵ campus, Sept. 22-23. Fifteen welders will qualify for the Steel Day welding competition finals on Friday, Sept. 24.

• CHEYENNE, WYO. - Laramie County Community College's rodeo team opened its season this past weekend, hosting the Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo at Frontier Park. This year's rodeo featured 14 teams from the Central Rocky Mountain Region, with âù´ºÔºÊÓƵ's men's team finishing second and the women's team taking fifth place.

• In 2017, Microsoft approached Laramie County Community College (âù´ºÔºÊÓƵ) with a proposal to develop a Microsoft Datacenter Academy at the College. The Datacenter Technology program began in the fall of 2018 with just 14 students and now boasts an enrollment of 60 students working to earn their degree. The datacenter technology credit diploma is now the common first degree within the Information Technology (IT) Pathway and leads to advanced credentials in network administrator, systems administrator, and cybersecurity.

• CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Laramie County Community College has received additional funding from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III, that has been designated to support students enrolled for the fall semester at the college. The âù´ºÔºÊÓƵ COVID-19 Fall 2021 Emergency Grant is designed to provide economic relief to students that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

• CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Laramie County Community College will offer a new Welding Fabrication class on Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 5-8 p.m. starting Aug. 23, 2021.

• CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Laramie County Community College's (âù´ºÔºÊÓƵ) welding program demonstrated excellence in welding at the state Skills-USA competition in spring 2021. âù´ºÔºÊÓƵ's fabrication team and an individual welder both qualified to compete at the national Skills-USA competition this summer.
